Properties of Grapes
- The composition of grapes may vary slightly depending on whether they are green, red or black grapes. In general, they contain carbohydrates, vitamins B6, folic acid, fiber, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, phytonutrients such as resveratrol and flavonoids.

- Grapes have two chemical compounds that help to control cholesterol very well; petrostilbene and saponins, which prevent the absorption of cholesterol in the digestive system.
- They have a laxative property, and can be useful in treatments for chronic constipation, since their compounds improve the functions of the intestinal and stomach muscles.
- Resveratrol is a compound present in all parts of the fruit that contributes to slow the aging process in the skin. It is a great healing agent and a great protection against skin aggressions, especially those caused by the sun and pollution. Grape seed extract, rich in vitamin E, can be used on the skin to remove the top layer of dead cells and leave it smoother.

- Like many fruits, grapes are best eaten with the skin on, and can be included in salads.
- Black grapes have a higher amount of phytonutrients, both in the seed and in the skin.
Note: Avoid consuming grapes with Warfarin, a drug for blood clotting, it can increase its effect and cause bleeding.
